Program = Four heats, a dash, a B Main and an A Main.
Notes based on mylaps:
This was an exceptional race. The car count was excellent (30 entries, including 6 visitors). The A Main went flag-to-flag (5 minutes, contrasting with 1 1/2 hour Race #3). The top five finishers started in the front three rows. Gilbert Toste started 3rd and was solidly in the lead from lap 1 for the win. Ricardo Rivera started 5th, moved up to 3rd between Dave Mosier (4th) and Ryan Ameln (2nd), dropped back to 4th, then passed Dave on lap 15 and twice traded places with Ryan in the closing laps for a 2nd place finish. Ryan, who started 2nd and ran there most of the race, finished 3rd. Dave, who started 6th and ran 2nd early in the race, finished 4th. Robert Mesloh started on the pole, slipped back to 5th by mid-race, and finished 5th. Camron Diatte was impressive; started 11th, moved up to 6th and held that position from lap 4 to the finish, only 1.7 seconds from the checkers and only 0.5 seconds out of the top five. This young rookie, at this point, had won two heats and led eight laps of his first A Main (until broke, scored DNF); was first and only rookie to achieve best lap times in the 15 second range (this event, heat and feature). Rounding out the top ten were, Marty Weisler (also rookie), Ryan Diatte, Chris Dorto and Martin Whittingham; 5 to 8 1/2 seconds off the pace.
CONGRATULATIONS TO GILBERT TOSTE ON THE TRIPLE (HEAT, DASH & FEATURE)!
Gilbert has now won three of five A Mains and is current points leader.
