POINTS RACE #7 AT OCEAN SPEEDWAY

| On vacation - missed it. Program = Four heats, a dash, a B Main and an A Main. Notes based on mylaps: Ryan Diatte, '07 RoY, was back in form this night; won his heat and the feature. In the A Main, he moved up from the 3rd starting position, ahead of '07 Champ, Dave Mosier, and points leader, Gilbert Toste, and led the entire race. Gilbert was there to keep him honest, running 2nd from lap 1 and finishing with a difference of less than half a second. Dave Mosier started 2nd, had a relatively slow (17 sec) first lap but picked up the pace and ran tight with the leaders. According to cumulative lap times, the front three cars were only about 0.1 second apart at mid-race. In the bump-and-grind of close racing, Dave had a sudden setback to 10th place but recovered to finish 5th. Punky Pires (starting 7th and 4th at mid-race) and Duane Daniel (starting 11th and 5th at mid-race) moved up to finish 3rd (Pires) and 4th (Daniel). The remaining top ten were, Martin Whittingham, Mark Tillinger, Steve Oliveira, Mark Biscardi and Bill Martinez. Mark Biscardi started 4th, fell back as far as 16th but managed to charge ahead for the 9th place finish; a lot of passing but no hard charger points. Camron Diatte started 5th, was 3rd from lap 9 to lap 16, bobbled out of the lead pack after setting fast time (15.577 sec) and had to settle for the 12th place finish; also scored best time in heat win. Steve Oliveira had a very good night, with steady progress from 17th to 7th in the A Main. Other heat winners: Gilbert Toste and Mark Biscardi. Hmmm... 'Toast' and 'Biscotti'!
